WAJO, SOUTH SULAWESI — Dawn had just touched the eastern horizon of Pitumpanua when the rumble of a ferry engine echoed across Bangsalae Port. Amid the morning bustle at this lifeline of Wajo’s sea transportation, a group of officers in brown uniforms stood ready. With friendly smiles and warm greetings, they made sure every passenger boarded and disembarked safely.

For the Pitumpanua Urban Police, Friday (October 10, 2025) through Saturday (October 11, 2025) was more than just another day. It was tangible proof that order and security are maintained around the clock. According to official reports, the public security and order (kamtibmas) situation within the jurisdiction of the Pitumpanua Police remained safe and conducive. There were no reports of crime, accidents, or major disturbances. Even the clear skies added to the serene atmosphere along the coast.

Guardians at the Gate of the Sea

From morning to afternoon, members of the Samapta Unit were on duty at Bangsalae Port. They monitored the departure of three ferries—KMP Camelia, KMP Merak, and KMP New Rose—each carrying hundreds of passengers and dozens of vehicles bound for Tobaku, North Kolaka.

Beyond securing the port, officers also conducted Yustisi (public order) operations for passengers and nighttime “Blue Patrols.” These preventive measures aimed to deter potential disturbances in this vital transport hub connecting South and Southeast Sulawesi.

Building Harmony in Lauwa Village

In between security duties, Pitumpanua Police Chief AKP Andi Suhidin, S.H., M.Si, and Deputy Chief IPTU Haryadi visited the Lauwa Village Office. The visit was more than a formality. Inside the modest office, a warm and friendly dialogue took place between the police and village officials.

“This synergy is important. We want to ensure that village-level security is maintained through good communication,” said Chief Andi Suhidin.

Bhabinkamtibmas: Peace Bridge Among the People

While most residents sleep, Bhabinkamtibmas officers continue their work on the ground, addressing social issues through a humane, problem-solving approach.

In Tobarakka Subdistrict, Aiptu Sumarno helped residents find common ground in a family dispute. In Padangloang Village, Brigadier Feri Irawan mediated a minor conflict between neighbors. Meanwhile, in Tangkoro Village, Aipda Saharuddin calmed two parties disputing a land boundary.

“Police officers are not only law enforcers but also bridges of peace,” emphasized Chief Andi Suhidin, underscoring this philosophy.

Early Detection and Traffic Patrols

From intelligence to traffic control, all units moved in a coordinated rhythm.

The Intelligence Unit carried out community engagement and monitoring to detect potential disturbances early.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Unit maintained coordination with related agencies, and Traffic Unit officers conducted turjawali (traffic management and patrol) at areas prone to violations—especially near crowded markets and public spaces.

Preserving Peace, Delivering a Sense of Safety

By Saturday morning, Pitumpanua’s sky remained calm and blue. No reports of disturbances—only the sound of vehicles and children’s laughter by the harbor.

“The security situation within the jurisdiction of the Pitumpanua Police is currently safe and under control. We will continue to protect and serve the community through humane and preventive approaches,” said Chief Andi Suhidin.

With dedication and a spirit of service, the Pitumpanua Urban Police continue to shine as beacons of safety at the eastern edge of Wajo Regency—where the sea, the people, and a sense of security blend in soothing harmony. (/Sabri)
